Brother Wolf Animal Rescue Issues Alert After Dog Nearly Taken Without Permission

ASHEVILLE, North Carolina — Officials at an Asheville animal shelter are warning dog owners to keep a close watch on their four-legged friends after they say someone tried to take a dog without permission last weekend.

In a Facebook post, Brother Wolf Animal Rescue said two people, and possibly a third, visited the facility several times before trying to take the dog. BWAR officials said the people appeared to be most interested in pit bull-type dogs.

Surveillance video shows one of the incidents. Footage shows two individuals as they take a dog out of its crate. One of the individuals carries the dog through the shelter lobby and to the front door before being stopped.

From Brother Wolf Animal Rescue

To support the safety of animals in our community, we feel it’s important to inform you of two people (with a suspected third person) who have visited Brother Wolf several times this week and attempted to walk out with a dog over the weekend. From the video footage we have, they appear to be particularly interested in pitbull type dogs. They left in a Ford F-150, late 80s, blue with a white side panel truck with dents on the driver’s side door and no license plates. We will be alerting local animal shelters and hope you will ensure your dogs are secure when they’re outside. Stay safe!
