Pit Bulls Being Unfairly Stereotyped, Some Say At Dog Vaccination Event

SPRINGFIELD, Missouri – Dog owners line up for a Vaccination and Pit Bull Registration Clinic in Springfield on Saturday, Oct. 14, 2017.

Within the first 18 minutes, more than 100 people were in line to have their dogs vaccinated at the Pawsitive Outreach Partnership’s Low Cost Vaccination and Pitbull Registration Clinic on Saturday morning.

Dog owners, along with their pets, lined up along the side of Petsway and filled the parking lot of the store on West Kearney.

In partnership with AnimalKind, Rescue One, a nonprofit organization, offered assistance with spay and neuter applications and pet food assistance applications for those in need.

The event also featured a station where the dog owners could sign a petition in protest of Springfield’s recently passed pit bull ordinance.

Animal Control officers were on site to do breed identification for dog owners who weren’t sure if their dog fell under the ordinance or not.

Dog owners in line were vocal about the peacefulness of the event.
