Pit Bull Training 101

Along with plenty of puppy socialization, your Pit Bull should be taught all the basic obedience training commands such as sit, stay, come, down and go to your spot. Pit Bulls grow to be big, strong dogs who can be fairly stubborn and will display dominance if allowed to get away with it.

The general, uninformed public has a negative misguided impression of the pit bull breed thanks to years of sensationalized media attention. And it’s up to us as pit bull owners to make sure we train our dogs the right way and show the world how awesome these great dogs are.

How to train a pit bull:
1. Lots of rules and boundaries – don’t give too many freedoms too soon
2. Provide lots of structure – daily walks, earn resources and make sure everything is on your terms
3. Exercise – pit bulls are high energy and require lots and lots of exercise – make sure they get it
4. Ongoing training

These rules are the same ones I would give for any dog (not just pit bulls). The reason that it’s more important with pit bulls is that they are built like little tanks so when things go bad, they go bad in a big way.

Training a pit bull is really no different than training any other dog but having a pit bull comes with a greater responsibility to the breed. http://makedogsyourlife.com
